Lexus OEM Belts
Your Lexus vehicle has many moving parts, many of which need belts to run right. Without these belts, your car or SUV would have a much tougher time doing all you ask of it.
The Different Kinds of Lexus Belts
Your car or SUV has three types of belts.
Timing Belts
Your timing belt is a notched belt that helps the crankshaft turn the camshaft. The timing belt turns the two shafts in rhythm with each other and helps to keep parts from hitting one another. If your timing belt were to fail, your engine would stop running at once. If you drive a recent vintage model, it may have a timing chain instead. Those are more durable, and should last your engine's entire lifespan.
Serpentine Belts
Serpentine belts work with the crank pulley, idler pulley, and tensioner to run parts like the power steering and alternator.
Drive Belts
Drive belts are powered by the crank pulley and help operate your water pump, radiator fan, and more.
If your serpentine or drive belts break, you'll have a period of time where you can fix the problem before things leave you stranded.
